Hi tweeps,

This blog entry will clarify everything about @twitter_id, a community account for Indonesian tweeps that has just been released this morning (5/8/11). It’s been causing a little confusion among the followers as the account doesn’t have the ‘verified’ logo and yet contains the word ‘twitter’ on its username. So, here’s the story.

Twitter is aiming to get closer with Indonesian tweeps, proven with the launching of Twitter in Indonesian on Monday (1/8/11) night, Indonesian time. Speaking of which, Indonesian and Dutch were the first languages to be fully translated 100% by the community!

Then, why doesn’t @twitter_id have the ‘verified’ badge?

@twitter_id is a Community Account created by Twitter, but is not managed by the Twitter staff. @twitter_id is managed by the Translation Center moderators (we are Indonesians). Which means, Twitter didn’t ‘verify’ the account since none of the Twitter staff handle/manage this account.

Community Account is an account that gives its followers news, security suggestions, tips, info about local events, as well as various stuff from Twitter, in that community’s native language.

We can tell you that @twitter_id was created by Twitter, but is managed by the community and not an impersonation/a fraud account.

This account is maintained by the Indonesian moderators team consisting @adhimatera, @lowrobb,@pdh90, @prayudisatriyo, and @rodin.

1. If you try to use a username which contains “twitter” on it, you will get an error message. You can try it now by changing your username on your ‘Settings’ page, and you will get the message (in red): Username can’t include “Twitter”.

Only Twitter has the authority to create an account that can include ‘twitter’ as part of its username, which accordingly proves that @twitter_id was created by the Twitter team.

2. @twitter_id is followed by several verified accounts:

• Perhaps there will be more verified accounts following us in the future, as @twitter_id has just been launched today. (Another twitter accounts might haven’t seen us yet!)

Kenapa @twitter_id tidak diberi status verified?

@twitter_id adalah sebuah community account yang dibuat oleh Twitter, tetapi yang mengurus bukanlah mereka bekerja di Twitter. dalam hal ini, yang mengurus @twitter_id adalah para moderator Translation Center (orang Indonesia). Nah karena yang mengurus bukan mereka sendiri, Twitter tidak memberikan tanda verified. (Ini adalah kebijakan dari mereka)

1. Kalau tweeps sekalian mencoba membuat nama pengguna (username) mengandung kata ‘twitter’, tidak akan bisa. Bisa dicoba dengan mengganti nama pengguna Anda yang sekarang, di halaman pengaturan, alhasil akan keluar error message: ‘Nama pengguna tidak dapat menyertakan “twitter”‘

Ya, itu karena setiap nama pengguna yang mengandung kata ‘twitter’ harus dibuat oleh tim Twitter itu sendiri.
